Burlington Island Beach park attracted many people from Bristol. Between 1900 and 1917, the area was mostly used for swimming, boating, and picnics. In about 1917, an amusement park was created with various amusement rides. The park burned in 1928 and again in 1934, and all summer activities ceased. Bristol had a Y.M.A club (Young Men’s Association) and canoes used by members was a popular summer activity. The word Nichols on the front was the name of the photographer.
