Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library Archives

How to Participate

Rules for Participation:

  1. Print out the selected archival photographs of Bristol Borough landmarks from the “Bristol ‘Then’ Photographs” page. By clicking on each individual photograph, you will be able to find more information on the location, as well as some history.
  2. Visit Bristol Borough and see if you can find the current location of the historical image in town
    • Please honor traffic safety rules within the borough—stick to sidewalks and grass!
    • Please honor private property if you encounter it
    • Please adhere to all recommended social distancing guidelines—stick to family groups, wear masks, and overall, stay safe!
  3. Once you’ve found the “now” location of the business, building, etc., super-impose the printed photograph over top of what you see currently there. Try to match it as closely as you can! For an example of how to do this, please see the photograph of the Bristol Wharf below.
  4. After taking your “now” photograph with the “then” photograph included, tag the Grundy Library on social media—we are on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Don’t have social media, or your account is private? Send your entries to archive@grundylibrary.org
  5. Those who find all 20 locations by October 31, 2020 at 11:59 PM, will be entered into a drawing to win a Cesare’s Ristorante (local Italian restaurant in Bristol) and Amazon gift cards! Winners will be selected the week after October 31st and will be notified.
  6. By participating, you agree to allow the Grundy Library to publish these photographs as a digital exhibit within the “Bristol ‘Now’ Photographs” page. In addition, you are agreeing to release, defend, hold harmless, and indemnify Grundy Foundation, Library, and Museum from any and all claims involving the use of your submitted photo and/or likeness.

The Scavenger Hunt is now closed for entries.
