On back: “Organized in 1712 was known as St. James the Greater. Rebuilt in 1858. Oldest church in Bristol--one of ten oldest in Philadelphia area. Missionaries Rev. Messrs. Moore, Keith and Talbot were the founders. Troops of American Revolution stabled their horses here.” Also written on back: "Photo and Pub by Bill Bennett Studios, Phila. & Pennsburg, Pa." -

Postcard: "The 'William E. Doron,' Bristol-Burlington Ferry"
The “William E. Doron” ferry operated between Bristol and Burlington until Mr. Doron retired February 25, 1930 and died a few months later.
Inscription on back of postcard reads: "Dear Catherine-- Thought you'd like to see this photo of an old friend. It is one of 69 Bucks Co. views reprinted of our Card Club. We have 3 granddaughters with us past 2 weeks. Love, [Bud]." Addressed to "Mrs. Catherine [Schiffey], [Neuffet] Nursing Home, Bensalem Blvd., Bensalem, PA 19020." -
Postcard: "Public School, Tullytown, PA. The Ess an Ess Photo Co., 19 E. 17th St., New York, N. Y."
It had a classroom on each floor. A second one-room school was built adjacent. The donor, Dora Colville, taught there between 1938-1952. The school has been demolished. Students from Tullytown attended Pennsbury School District. -

Elk’s Home (BPOE), building on Radcliffe Street at Walnut Street, built in 1911. Previously a house owned by the German Consul August Claudius. The house later was owned by a coal company and the house was called the Beaver Meadow House. This building was removed in 1979 and a park setting was created. Photograph drafted by Frances Maher of New Jersey whose aunt lived in Bristol. -

Otter Street at the corner of Bath Street, facing south. It appears that construction on the trolley line is being completed. The trolley visible connected Bristol and Philadelphia. Another line on Bath Street ran to Doylestown. Trolley lines operated from 1900-1932. -

I've been wanting to come to Tacony to see you. but right now I'm working 7 days a week and its no fun. I'll run over the first chance I get. Your buddy, Joe C." -

Postcard: "Island Beach, N.J."
Canoe Race of the Young Men’s Association. Burlington Island Beach park attracted many people from Bristol. Between 1900 and 1917, the area was mostly used for swimming, boating, and picnics. In about 1917, an amusement park was created with various amusement rides. The park burned in 1928 and again in 1934, and all summer activities ceased. Bristol had a Y.M.A club (Young Men’s Association) and canoes used by members was a popular summer activity. The word Nichols on the front was the name of the photographer. Nichols started their studio after WWI. -

Bristol Borough Municipal Building opened in 1927, including the fire company and engines, were a gift to the Borough by Joseph R. Grundy. Located at Pond Street and Mulberry Street, it replaced the old town hall which was located in the middle of Market Street facing Radcliffe Street.

Postcard: "Penna. R. R. Station Bristol, PA."
This is the Pennsylvania Railroad station at the elevated rail line, which opened in 1911. Riders purchased tickets at ground level and ascended steps to the tracks. An elevator was available, but was used for large freight. Previously, the trains were at street level parallel to Pond Street. This station is at Prospect and Beaver Street. -

Built in 1818 as a private house. Purchased in 1833 as a bank. Farmer’s National Bank was charted in Hulmeville in 1814. It moved to Mill Street Bristol in 1823 and to Radcliffe in 1833. The building was expanded in 1952. -

On back of postcard: "Lower Bucks County Hospital, Phone ST. 8-7801, Bristol, Penna. A non profit, accredited community hospital with 222 beds, and 57 bassinets. There are over 12,000 admissions every year. The hospitals auxiliary has 1300 members in 14 units, with over 300 volunteers in cherry red uniforms."
