[Bristol Borough Municipal Building at Mulberry and Pond Street]
This picture was taken at the Mulberry Street door which is the present Police Department entrance. The photographer was in the Fire Company No. 2 building across the street when taking the picture. The speaker is believed to be Leslie Kilcoyne, a lawyer whose office was in the Closson/Keystone Hotel building on Bath Street. In front of the speaker are members of the Rober W. Bracken Post No. 382 American Legion. The men on the platform wearing metal helmets are members of the American Legion.

Bristol High School was established at its current location of Garfield and Wilson Avenue in 1923 after Harriman was annexed by Bristol in 1922. Photograph may have been taken on Jefferson Avenue, based on smoke stacks visible to the left. Individuals are unidentified. -
"Leedom's, Bristol Twilight League Champions of 1928"
Leedom’s Mill Twilight League was sponsored by Leedom’s Carpet Mill, located at Beaver and Pond Streets. The site is now the Grundy Recreation Center (Ice Skating Rink). Leedom’s recreation field was located along Beaver Street opposite the factory. The field in 2009 had a new elementary school being constructed.

Built on Logan Street between Pond and Pear Streets. The back of the school is on Jefferson Avenue. -
[Box car filled with refrigerators for Clarence W. Winter’s store on Mill Street at Wood Street]
This was at the Pennsylvania Railroad freight yard at Pond and Mulberry Streets. Clarence Winter attended Bristol Borough schools. He and his friend Charles Strumfels went fishing in the Delaware River near Bristol in 1914. They caught a fish weighing 330 pounds and was 8 feet 6 inches long. The roe of the fish sold for $200 to a New York City restaurant. Clarence Winter operated a store at Mill and Wood Streets that sold kitchen appliances. He also sold Buick cars in a building behind the Mill Street store. -

The business started in 1800 at 325 Mill Street. Owners of this property have been the Swayne, Rue, Ruehl, Black, and Carter families. Black moved the business to 314 Cedar Street. The Carter family lived on the second floor. Photograph taken circa 1912-1949 (based on the 48 star American flag). -

Bimonthly meeting of the Bristol Travel Club, February 22, 1929. The Travel Club was part of the American Federation of Women’s Clubs. This date was the 197th birthday of George Washington. To help celebrate, the women were encouraged to attend in a variety of costumes representing various historical periods. Mrs. William Buckman, gowned to represent First Lady Martha Washington, served as program leader.
The site of the meeting was the Keene Home built in 1816 at the east corner of Radcliffe and Dorrance Streets. (Current location of the Margaret R. Grundy Memorial Library that opened in 1966).
W.B. Nichols, one of the Bristol’s leading photographers at that time, was invited to photograph the group. This photograph was taken in the yard behind the house. The house in the background was once the home of the actor Thomas and his wife Mary Cooper. The minutes of the meeting show that there were 52 members present and several guests. Three photographs were required to include all members. [Note: There are only 49 people total in the photographs and one member, Mrs. Mitchell Ancker, appears in two photographs. Only two of the three photographs have the names of those in the photograph.]

This is the Pennsylvania Railroad station at the elevated rail line, which opened in 1911. Riders purchased tickets at ground level and ascended steps to the tracks. An elevator was available, but was used for large freight. Previously, the trains were at street level parallel to Pond Street. This station is at Prospect and Beaver Street. -

[“William E. Doron” ferry boat in its berth at Bristol between Mill and Market Streets, below Radcliffe Street]
The ferry connected Bristol, PA and Burlington, NJ until 1930. William Doron stopped his service February 25, 1930 and died later that same year. Two Bristol men, Charles Kock and Morrison Keich, owners of the “Sea Gull” boat continued to provide passenger services for some time after until the bridge opened. The “William E. Doron” sank at sea off Virginia. -

Stone house on left, just beyond houses with awnings, is the Galzarano Funeral Home opposite Franklin Street. The next building on the left is Bristol Water Company, organized 1874. The taller pipe is for water and the lower one is part of the power system (note smoke coming from lower stack). Picture taken before 1932 when the trolley stopped operation. -
