Based on the house seen in the distance, which appears to be on Jefferson Avenue at Pond Street, the porch in the foreground is most likely at a house that formerly occupied land where St. Ann Convent and School is located on Jefferson Avenue (as of 1998). The large stone house in the background was removed 1908/1909 when Jefferson Avenue School was built.
It opened in 1931 and increased safety in travel. Just beyond the bridge, the canal bridge was removed and the area under that bridge was filled in with earth. 24 inch pipes allowed water to pass. This was also in 1931.
